Frank Smythe was the first botanist, mountaineer, and explorer who visited and named "The Valley of Flowers" in 1931. Located in the high altitude of Garhwal range of Himalayan, flower of valley is a world heritage site and famous amongst trekkers, hikers, botanist and nature lover for its astonishing beauty. There are over 500+ different types of Flower and plants Variety naturally grown in the environment deep inside the Nanda Devi biosphere. The best time to visit Flower of Valley is in monsoons i.e July, August and the first week of Sept, on the other hand, these months are very dangerous for travelling and trekking in Uttarakhand due to high risk of Landslides and road blockage. Therefore always keep your gears up to date and travel in the guidance of experienced expert's guides.
The Valley of Flowers is spread over 85 square km and at an altitude of 11000 feet to 13500 feet. This hidden jewel is a truly unique habitat, home to many endemic varieties of different flowers and plants. Over the years many nature lovers and hikers from different part of the world have been continuously visiting the valley and are every time more and more attracted to its beauty.
In Valley of Flowers, it's a true story that many trekkers fell due to heavy scent of flowers blooming in the Valley. The Flora and Fauna are best from mid-July to mid-Sept. At that time more than 300 types of wildflowers bloom here untouched by humans. The rarest species of flowers are Meadow Geranium, Snake Foil, Hooked Stick Seed, Himalayan Rose, Blue Poppy, River Anemone, White Leaf Hog Foot and Dog Flower. . One can experience beautiful waterfalls, dangerous glaciers, steep mountains, flowing rivers and quaint villages while reaching the Valley.
Day 1: Reach Govindghat 10/11 hours drive from Rishikesh/ Haridwar. Transport will be organized from Haridwar Railway station or Rishikesh Bus Stand. |
Day 2: Drive from Govind Ghat (6,300 ft) to Poolna (7,200 ft). Trek to Ghangria (9,843 ft); 5-6 hours, 9 km + 4 km drive |
Day 3: Ghangaria (9,600 ft) to Valley of Flowers (11,500 ft) and back; 6 hours, 3.7 km each way |
Day 4: Ghangria (9,600) to Hemkund Sahib (14,107 ft) and back; 8-9 hours, 6 km each way |
Day 5: Trek from Ghangria (9,600 ft) to Poolna (7,200 ft). Drive to Govind Ghat (6,300 ft); 4 hours, 9 km trek + 4 km drive |
Day 6: Depart from Govind Ghat. You will reach Rishikesh / Haridwar. |
Day 01: Pick from Haridwar / Rishikesh – Drive to Govindghat via Joshimath alongside river Ganga, Alakhnanda via Dev Prayag, Rudraprayag, Karn Prayag, Pipalkoti on Badrinath Highway. Overnight Stay in Govindghat followed by Dinner.
Day 02:Govindghat to Poolna Drive | Trek to Ghangria– Early morning after breakfast, leave for Poolna, approx 50KM drive. From Poolna we will start our Trek to Ghangria which is approx 09KM moderate Trek through a well-defined trail. There are several Dhabas in between for refreshments and lunch. It will be approx 06-07 hours trek to reach Ghangria where we will have an overnight halt in a Hotel/ Campsite.
Day 03: Ghangria to Valley of Flower – 04 Km Trek – After Early morning breakfast and with packed lunch, we will leave for the Valley of Flower which is an Easy Trek of approx 04km to Reach the Entry Gate. We will have a whole day to spend inside the valley of flower which is spread in 85 sq km although one can't explore the entire valley in a day. Feel the freshness and scent of the wildflowers and fauna blooming alongside throughout the valley. Fill your lungs with the purity and fragrance of the most exotic and rare flowers as you can't capture the same. Spend luxury time in clicking the unforgettable moments and astonishing view of the Valley surrounding, like streams, waterfall, glaciers, mountains, woods etc. We will be back to Ghangria in the late afternoon on the same path we came, but this time the experience will be completely different as the Sun is going to set in different directions and the view changes completely.
Back and overnight stay at Ghangria.
Day 04: Ghangria to Hemkund Sahib and Back to Ghangria. After Early morning breakfast, Leave for Hemkund Sahib trek which is 06KM moderate Trek one side. Ghangria is an altitude of 2925 metres and Hemkund Sahib is at 4300 Metres, which means some of us can feel reduced in oxygen level and also altitude sickness, but don't worry it is normal for the beginners. Reaching Hemkund Sahib may take 06 hours due to stiff climbing trek and numerous breaks in between. Once reached warm yourself spend spiritual time in Gurudwara and if possible take a holy dip in the kund with freezing cold holy water. Feel the peace and serenity around the Hemkund lake with astonishing reflection of the mountains surrounding the Hemkud Sahib Gurudwara. He will leave for Ghangria slowly and steadily in the afternoon as this time the trek will impact our knees and toes while down trekking. Reach Ghangria , have dinner and overnight in Ghangria.
Day 05: Ghangria to Poolna to Govindghat. After breakfast, we will trail back to Poolna which is 09KM from Ghangria, on the same path we climbed. From Poolna we will drive to Govindghat and then from there to Joshimath. Spend time in Joshimath Market, Experience the ride of asia's highest and longest Ropeway to Auli. Back to Hotel in Govindghat followed by Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06: Govindghat to Rishikesh/ Haridwar Drop. After breakfast, we will drop you to Rishikesh / Haridwar by Evening 07-08PM. Journey Completed here with unforgettable memories.
